Hello SCoVE families, my name is Katrice Thomas, and I am in my second year as the Director for Stanly County Virtual Education. I am excited to continuing serving the families of SCoVE.
I want to tell you about me. I have been in Stanly County Schools since 2002. I began my career as a technology teacher, serving K-5 students to learn how to use computer skills. With the ever changing world of technology, my position also made some adjustments. I transitioned into an instructional technology specialist. I worked with teachers and students in K-12 to serve as a resource for technology integration in the classroom. In 2013, I graduated from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte with a Masters of School Administration in School Administration. I became a curriculum coach for middle school students at Albemarle Middle School. I have also served as an assistant principal at Albemarle High School, and an interim principal at Albemarle High School. My passion is to help students be successful in school, preparing them for whatever they choose to do after they graduate. I will support students and help them in their educational journey.
This year I will the main contact for Stanly County Virtual Education. I am going to provide parents with a weekly agenda of student check ins with me. I am also going to work with students on their assessments and classroom support. Together as partners in education we can accomplish so much!
I am honored to work alongside each of you to help support your students through their virtual journey this year. I take pride in continuous improvement and I am always open to feedback. If you ever need to reach me, email is the quickest. Never hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]. Also please make sure that you have joined the SCoVE remind group. Information is posted on the school facebook page and on the website!
I look forward to a great year at Stanly County Virtual Education!
